More on the Culture of Corruption

Obviously with such important news as the Vice President's hunting accident, it is easy to see how all other political stories would get pushed to the back burner. I won't cry conspiracy, but how fortunate that the democrats could shift their focus away from the Abramoff scandal just as information surfaced:

Democrats have taken more money from lobbyists than Republicans during the past 15 years, according to an independent analysis of campaign contributions.

Since the 1990 election cycle, Democrats have accepted more than $53 million from lobbyists while Republicans have taken more than $48 million for their election campaigns, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
The Democrat's plans to clean up the culture of corruption should not be affected by this news, besides extending the clean-up to both sides of the aisle.

Shocking Statistic

According to this article, 40% of all NYC pregnancies ended in planned abortion in 2004.

So much for the Clinton idea of safe, legal, and rare.

Alito the Liberal

I wonder what Teddy Kennedy thinks of him now. In Crawford v. Taylor, the first split of Justice Alito's tenure, he sides with the liberal faction of the Court:

The application to vacate the stay of execution of sentence of death entered by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit on February 1, 2006, presented to Justice Alito and by him referred to the Court, is denied.

The Chief Justice, Justice Scalia, and Justice Thomas would grant the application to vacate.
Granted, this is not really a big decision when considering the work of the Supreme Court, but interesting nonetheless.
