news

I thought I should do a little news wrap-up of the important goings-on.
I plan on letting the blog die quickly unless those other two delinquent contributors step it up a notch, but the news is just too silly to ignore.

1. First Article:Let's call this one another argument for homeschooling.

An enlightening story on how the shelves of public school libraries are stocked:
"This is our job, to guide media specialists to good quality literature," Willnerd said.

It's also to find a balance between filling bookshelves with historically and culturally accurate information and maintaining the ideal of presenting all viewpoints.

"It is a balancing act," said Mary Reiman, director of LPS media services. "I don't know how else to define it. It's the hardest part of our job because we do believe in intellectual freedom."
In case you missed it (though they aren't even trying to hide it anymore), the hardest part of picking books for the library is finding the proper proportion of books that are historically accurate and books that may be false, but at least they offer another side of the story.

2. Second Article: Helping parents raise their children (it takes a village, you know).

Its a movie reveiw of what will surely be another waste of admission movie, but the notable part--the movie recieved a PG rating for "explicit religious content." Thank you, MPAA, for the help. If a child saw something religious without parental guidance, it is hard to imagine the disasters that would ensue.
