Ethanol Huge Mistake, GOB says

According to this recent news piece, ethanol is a risky business.

However, Brown said, “if the ethanol producers stay in the market, that will disrupt the food supply.”

He added: “Because of the interrelationships among crops, a major shortfall in the U.S. harvest could tip global grain and soy markets into chaos.”

It would affect the prices of food made directly from these commodities, such as bread, pasta and tortillas, and food made indirectly, such as pork, poultry, beef, milk and eggs.

If it happened this summer, it would be especially bad because of the current pace of global food inflation.

“The rest of the world is less able to pay high prices for food. What’s annoying for us is life-threatening elsewhere,” Brown said.

Well, at least it has been a safe alternative to oil-based gasoline. . . not.

Reply Quiz: Which would you rather place your trust in: 1) Mother Nature or 2) Middle East Muslim Oil Barons and Hugo Chavez

Plus, there is the really scary part of ethanol that nobody talks about -- making ethanol uses extreme amounts of water and ask any farmer along the Republican River if they have a drop to spare. Ethanol is going to cause a real environmental crisis, but nobody cares because it is not as sexy as global warming. Hey, Leo, drive your Prius over to the dry river bed and make a documentary about the problem that is going to bring this country down.

Don't worry. We've got desalinization plants for that problem. Why conserve the fresh water that we have when we can just just get it from ocean saltwater at an incredible cost and inconvenience?

All of this talk really makes me want to watch the movie Idiocracy. Its funny because its true. Plus Mike Judge never struck out with King of the Hill.
