Preference and Malevolence

To keep with the theme below, I wanted to show you fellow uprisers out there this test that you can take online that will show your automatic preference for blacks or whites... er... african or european americans.

http://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/

Here is what I got.

Preference:
Strong White 27%
Moderate White 27%
Slight White 16&
No Preference 17%
Strong Black 2%
Moderate Black 4%
Slight Black 6%

Big surprise right? Try it out and see what you guys get. Most people prefer their own race even if they are nappy headed white lawyers.

Guess that means I'm only slightly a racist, right?

Probably, Ransom
I wonder if you have disclosed this to the ABA.

My prof. at UofM said that "institutional racism" exists too which is basically the idea that organizational structures are subconsciously created with substructure that limit non-white performance. Upon further probing, I found that the limitations usually boiled down to whites preferring like cultural identity from applicants. Latasha Jones is less likely to get a look than Amanda Smith. Its alive and real today in America boys and we are just a part of the problem.

I don't know if that means that I'm more racist than Ransom, or if he is just better at video games. Seriously, I've never seen anybody so good at Dance Dance Revolution.

Doobie: I think the stats you provided are the overall stats for the survey. Take it again. I want to see how racist you are.

P.S. I work with Amanda Smith. Are you saying she only got the job because of institutional racism? I think I should tell her.

I was the same as Qahal.

Hey, remember that Marty Haugen post awhile back. Here is a blog that has one-upped Ransom.

There is one thing I have been really concerned about in the aftermath of this whole Imus debacle. If a white person saying certain words is racist, but a black rapper saying those same words is not racist, then is it racist for a white person to listen to rap music? Even more, is it racist for a white person to sing along with said lyrics? I ask because that once happened to me, caught up in the joy of a good mix CD and some friends driving down the road, singing along to some classic ghetto anthem without a care in the world. I was with a friend who happened to be black and my white guilt hit me after we had let a few unconscious n-words fly along with the lyrics. He was cool and thought nothing of it, because there was nothing to it except singing along, but if modern society has taught me anything, that one moment was not just careless fun, but my deep seeded hatred spewing forth.

I guess what I am getting at is that I apologize to all my black brothers and sisters for my white hatred.

Don't ever run for office. Or try to make any money through mass media. You will be buried with a history like that.

P.S. Is it just me or are these word verifications getting really frickin' hard?

That ice cream link is beautiful. Nice investigative work.

One of the things I noticed on that blog is that apparently there are Catholic Blog Awards! How do we get considered? Listen, guys, if we ever want to be taken seriously, we really need to put forth a little more effort. *looking in db's direction*
We're never gonna hit mainstream until we start racking up Catholic Blog Awards like the curt jester.

American Papist has got some award for Catholic blogs. I agree with Qahal, if we are going to make a business of this thing and retire early, we gotta do better. "Bring your A Game" that is something I live everyday. It isn't just an adage, it is a lifestyle.

qahal, you are right about the word verifications. I can't get them to work about 75% of the time.

They are about as hard as the cursive handwriting sample on the LSAT. Do you remember that?
